The game of football is an ever-changing one, with clubs and players rising and falling, sometimes dramatically. Perhaps it’s for this reason that football betting offers UK fans so much excitement, although simply watching the game is entertainment enough for many. However, despite the fluctuating fortunes of many clubs in different leagues around the world, the top ten is remarkably stable – greatness tends to be sustained. Certainly,
this list of today’s top ten clubs has a very familiar look to it:
1) Barcelona
Having beaten Arsenal to a place in the Champion’s League quarter-finals, and with star player Lionel Messi to make life difficult for their opponents, Barcelona are on course for a potential Spanish league and European double this season.
2) Inter Milan
2010 Serie A champions, Inter Milan are battling local rivals AC Milan for the title this season, while also battling through to the Champion’s League quarter-finals.
3) Manchester United
The world’s largest football club, Manchester United are topping the English league at the moment, hoping to win the title they’ve won so many times before. They’re also through to the Champion’s League quarter-final and the FA Cup semi-final.
4) Chelsea
Despite being a struggling club back in the 80s, Chelsea today are high achievers. They hold the Premier League title, and are Champion’s League quarter-finalists.
5) Arsenal
The north London club have had football pedigree for a long time. They lost out on a Champion’s League quarter-final place to Barcelona, but they’re currently chasing success in the English Premiership
and are almost neck-to-neck with leaders Manchester United.
6) Bayern Munich
Bayern are Germany’s most successful football club. They hold the Bundesliga title for 2010, a title they’ve won a total of 22 times. They just missed out on a Champion’s League quarter-final place to Inter Milan.
7) Real Madrid
Voted by Fifa as the most successful football club of the 20th century, Real Madrid hold an incredible 31 Spanish league titles (including 2010) and 9 Champion’s League titles (a record). They’re currently chasing Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

9) AC Milan
They just lost out on a Champion’s League quarter-final place to Tottenham, but AC Milan currently top Serie A, ahead of their local rivals Inter Milan.
10) Borussia Dortmund
Although they haven’t achieved the success that Bayern Munich have, Borussia Dortmund make the list, as they’re currently topping the German league by some distance.
